Until Death Do Us Part

This chapter is going to explain the title! A lot of people are asking about that..... soooooo........ your questions are answered.

Dirk X Reader

"Fine, and technically I'm not a robot. Robot means slave, and I'm not a slave. To think actually everyone is a slave though. We are a slave to our owns minds." You said spacing out a bit. "Whoa that was deep." Dirk commented. "Sorry. Well you guys can finish up, I'm going to go to sleep. I have to get to class early tomorrow." You said, going to your room. Casy let herself out. Dirk and Roxy finished cleaning and sat on the couch. "So, what's her story?" Dirk asked Roxy. "It's a long one." Roxy said. "Got lots of time." Dirk said.

"Well it all started when she was little. She had a wonderful life, Mom and Dad loved her. But then came along her little sister, who tore the family apart. Mom didn't want Casy, and Dad said it would be wrong to put her up for adoption. That was a long time ago, it doesn't really affect her now. But then her mother died, and they had to move in with her father. So they moved long ways away to where her father was. I went with them, because my mom said it was okay. At this time she was 12, I was 14, and Casy was 10. We made lots of new friends, and then her other best friend from school died, and it kept happening like that death, almost fatal injuries, and moving away. She thought it was all her fault. 2 short years later her dad died, and they moved again. And lets just say the process repeated." Roxy took a small break.

"So after a while she came up with the idea that it was all her fault. And that if she ever gets close to someone again they will most likely get killed or get in some fatal accident." Roxy finished. "So that explains a lot, especially the no liking guys thing." Dirk said. "That's actually a different story." Roxy corrected him. "Still got lots of time." Dirk said. "Alright." Roxy sighed.

"She had just turned 18, and she had been dating this guy for about 3 years. And on her birthday, he proposed. She was so delighted, she quickly accepted. They immediately started planning the wedding. The night of his bachelor party came, and the party ended. He had one friend left and his friend was completely drunk. His friend insisted on driving, but he wouldn't let him. So while they were driving home, his drunk friend pushed him away from the wheel, and started driving. He ended up crashing the car. Her fiancé died, and his drunk friend made it out perfectly fine." Roxy said. "Oh, that makes even more sense." Dirk commented. "What's her first class tomorrow?" Dirk asked. "Literature." Roxy told him. "Alright." He got up and left.

The Next Day

"So can someone tell me what Edgar Allen Poe meant by 'Raven rapping on my door'?" You said. Someone unfamiliar to you class raised their hand. "As simple as this question is, elementary really, it involves quite some thought. He meant death was knocking at his door, telling him it was his time to join him." The mystery person said. "Yes, that is correct. And who are you?" You asked. "I am Dirk Strider, and I'm here for my first class of the day. I thought literature would help me with my hobby." Dirk said getting up and walking to the front of the class. "I didn't know you teached here I only thought you were a student." Dirk said to you. "Yeah well I'm both. The literature teacher had a midlife crisis and left, and the school couldn't find a good replacement so I got the spot, being the best student in the class." You explained to him.

There was an awkward silence between you two. He then randomly hugged you. Your face turned red. The entire class stared in shock. "Dirk Strider get back in your seat!" You shouted but he wouldn't let go. "Class dismissed! Everyone get out!" You shouted. All the students grabbed their things and shuffled out of the classroom. Once everyone was out he broke the silence. "I know what happened to you." He whispered, as he let go. "Well it doesn't concern you. Especially since I just met you yesterday. " You said grabbing all of your papers, and your purse."It does actually. Someone who goes through that kind of trauma needs therapy and from what I see, you haven't been through any of that much needed therapy." He said. "I'm not ready to talk about it. I have to go work on something so if you will please excuse me." You said starting to walk off, but her followed you.

"You know I lost mom at a young age too, and my dad. I grew up with my little bro. We looked out for each other. Never really knowing what loving someone outside of family was like. In reality, you think you haven't lived, but you have felt things over have of the human race will never feel. You have felt the love the love of a mother and father, the trust of friendship, those of those dear, the anger and regret of choices you and others have made, And lets not forget the pain of feeling you have been cursed to be alone your whole life, because of a stupid mistake someone else made." You stopped in your tracks, turned around, and looked at him. "But want to know what's worse?" You asked. He nodded. "Knowing everytime you feel like there's someone special in your life....... you feel like you can't be with them, just so you feel as though they are safe." You said tears brimming in your eyes. You knew Roxy had told him about your past last night, you heard her talking. "Do you need a hug?" He asked. You nodded, dropping all you your things and running to him.

'How cliché' you thought. You two just kind of stood there for a while. Him hugging you briefly. It was oddly comforting. You felt this warm fuzzy feeling inside you never thought you would feel again. You felt safe right there in that moment. You felt welcome for the first time since before your widowing. You smiled to yourself. Maybe this guy wasn't what I thought he was. Maybe he's not just playing me like almost everyone else I know. You pulled away. "There, all better now?" He asked. You nodded. "I can so tell you're 20." He laughed. "Why? Because I'm grinning like an idiot?" You asked. "No, because your face is all red, your maturity is lower than a 22 year olds, and you don't drink." He smirked. "I am not good under the effects of alcohol. I tried some with Roxy, we vowed never to let me have some ever again." You laughed. "That's the first time I heard you laugh because you didn't think what I said was stupid." He smiled. "Maybe you could get a little more used to it?" You asked smiling. He nodded. "I would like that." He said.
